LAWRENCE
My name is Demontrius double-D Lawrence.

MARSHALL
I'm K. aka Blackfish Marshall.

LAWRENCE
On our AMA tour we visited South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique.

LAWRENCE
The tour was about 3 1/2 weeks, almost a month.

MARSHALL
With everything that you see in the media now, it was a great chance for us to show a different side to hip-hop. You know, other than what's being seen and what's being promoted or what's in the masses. You know, there's another side to it that accentuates the positive.

MARSHALL
Afar, what that stands for is afar from anything, afar from the norm. Beyond what you can think of believe.

LAWRENCE
We look to provide like a different, I guess, brand of hip-hop. Because it's live music along with the lyrics. It's a live show. It's entertaining as well. It's more than just a couple guys on stage with a DJ just dancing around doing steps, so it's actually a fun show.

MARSHALL
Whenever you travel anywhere, you have to go with an open mind, because it's something new. You know, and I wanted to let South Africa and Zimbabwe and Tanzania and Mozambique form its own opinion, you know, upon me. So I went in like that.

MARSHALL
The culture of people, you know, you realize just how much we're alike all over the world, you know, sharing the same values, uh, the same music, the same dress, the same haircuts. You know, I can't say the same slang, but.... we might pronounce it a little different, but some of that you know also.

MARSHALL
You realize it's not just the music, I mean the music is a vehicle to get you over there and get the people out, but it's what happens in between, and that's where the real music is made. That's where you get the lasting memories. You know, the rest of the world is a great place. There's a few bad apples in every bunch that spoil it for everybody, but you know people are people, and that's what makes the tours great.
