Dennis Irwin Benefit Concert
The Allen Room – Jazz at Lincoln Center
March 10, 2008

Photo credit: Frank Stewart, Jazz at Lincoln Center

Joe Lovano and John Scofield teamed up with Jazz at Lincoln Center and Wynton Marsalis to bring together incredible performers in a benefit concert for beloved bassist Dennis Irwin. All artists donated their services and Jazz at Lincoln Center donated its venue and staff to raise much-needed funds for Irwin through The Jazz Foundation of America. The jazz community and music fans came together in support of Dennis Irwin, who was in need of immediate financial support for medical treatment and expenses as he battled a serious illness. Unfortunately, Irwin passed away just hours before the benefit began.

Proceeds from the concert went to the Jazz Foundation of America to defray costs for Irwin’s treatment and to support other jazz musicians in crisis, in accordance with his wishes. Jazz at Lincoln Center holds Dennis Irwin close to our hearts and prayers.
