Each season Curtis On Tour brings the extraordinary artistry of the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music to national and international audiences, with tomorrow’s leading musicians performing alongside celebrated alumni and faculty. Violinist Ida Kavafian and cellist Peter Wiley (’74) appear with Curtis students on a program that celebrates the centenary of Curtis alumnus Samuel Barber (’34) with a performance of his String Quartet, Op. 11, featuring the Adagio made famous in countless film scores, plus Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 2 and newly commissioned miniatures by student composers Chris Rogerson and Daniel Shapiro.
