CHUCK STEWART
Looking at the Music: The Jazz Photography of Chuck Stewart
On view: November 18, 2008 – February 14, 2009

This exhibition presents the work of Chuck Stewart, whose artistry in “making music with light”—to borrow an expression from the poet Kalamu Ya Salaam—is of a transcendent order. Complementing the occasion of Stewart’s winning the Milt Hinton Award for Excellence in Jazz Photography (November 20, 2008), this exhibit grants viewers intimate, glorious glimpses of some of the greatest musicians in the history of jazz. Looking at the Music: The Jazz Photography of Chuck Stewart is the first in a series of rotating jazz exhibitions in Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Location and Hours: Looking at the Music: The Jazz Photography of Chuck Stewart is located in Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 60th Street and Broadway in New York City. Admission is free and the Hall is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm and 6pm-11pm.

All photos on view are available for purchase from the artist. Please call 212.258.9988 for information.
