Both Band Director Academy (BDA) sessions will focus on core concepts for teaching jazz, particularly rhythm section techniques. Featuring an integration of performance, jazz history, pedagogy and sharing best practices, the three-day professional development workshop emphasizes hands-on learning and concepts and techniques to be applied directly in the classroom. It is led by some of the most foremost jazz educators in the country and also includes jam sessions and faculty performances.
Tuition: $300 per session (2007-08 Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Program members and undergraduate music education majors eligible for a $50 discount).
Housing: Group rates at local hotels will be available at both locations.
