What is Jazz?

Who is Louis Armstrong?
January 29, 1pm & 3pm

Louis Armstrong was the first genius of jazz and the pioneer who brought jazz to a wider poplar audience. Join trumpeter Sean Jones and guests in this family concert illuminating Satchmo's brilliance and irrepressible charm and wit.

What is the Big Band Era?
March 26, 1pm & 3pm

Even 75 years after the big band era, most will agree that this was the period when jazz reached its peak. Ted Nash leads the JLCO in a program sampling all the major big bands – Ellington, Basie, Goodman – and showing what made them swing so hard.
